What is MELT – Mandatory Entry-Level Training? BC’s Ministry of Transportation has mandated that any driver taking a Class 1 Road Test in BC must undergo a rigorous training program. This program exceeds the minimum requirements set by the National Safety Code Standard and includes a minimum of 140 hours of instruction and training. Our MELT program ensures you are well-prepared to meet these standards and excel in your truck driving career.
Eligibility
- Must be 19 years of age or older.
- Must have a full privilege B.C. driver’s license or an out-of-province equivalent.
- Must possess a valid Class 1 learner’s permit from ICBC.
- Must meet medical standards.
Prerequisites
- No prior truck driving experience is required.
- A commitment to attending all training sessions and actively participating in both in-class and practical instruction.
